Being busy is a good thing. I might not have Real Meaning, but I sense purpose in my daily activities. I would not feel the same way about watching TV day after day and eating groceries and being alive and doing a joe job. I told Brett the other day that my life would be empty without dumbness, but that's not really true. Even when I'm not trying to cure my dumbness, I'm making things go. My things! In the future I hope to look back and think on how naive I was about what I had been in training for. I'm not sure what that could be, being naive and all, but what a cool sentiment! Nostalgic condescension for your past self! Coolness aside, it's a little too close to having your left brain thinking contemptuous thoughts about your right brain.
(Not innocent.)
While scanning through the homemade video tapes I brought here last time I visited Mom's house in Hawaii, I found a 20 minute video I made of walking around Kaneohe. I start at home, calling people on the phone and watching my sister do the dishes. Then I head out the door, walk the 3 miles to Little Caesars (edited), wander around inside, get cornered by Christy showing off her new bellybutton ring, hide in the walk-in freezer, and continue towards Kris' house. I get to his front door, suprising and annoying his Dad (9:30 at night is a bad time to visit unannounced with a video camera). Then I go somewhere dark where the camera can't see anything, and all you hear is my footsteps on uneven ground, wind, and car noises. I'm really happy I have that.
d00d, I like the way people go on and on about how they haven't any time. Proof: the grim scythe-bearing guy waving an hourglass in their face.
(going on and on about how busy I am)
